Carers Week at Sainsbury's

 

12 - 18 June 2017 

Carers Week is an annual awareness campaign celebrating and recognising the contribution made by the UK’s 6.5 million carers (1 in 8 adults) who look after an ill, frail, or disabled family member or friend. We think around 20,000 of our colleagues combine working with caring.

Sainsbury’s Bexleyheath will be supporting by helping awareness raising activities in store. Across the week charities/groups will be in store to talk to customers about the work they do and to show details of support for carers in the local area.

MONDAY 12 JUNE      :     EMMAUS SOCIETY

Emmaus is a homeless charity and is different because it provides a home for as long as someone needs it. This gives the opportunity to take stock of their lives, deal with issues they might have, and often re-establish relationships with loved ones

TUESDAY 13 JUNE         :     ADHD AND ME

A coffee morning with parents and anybody affected by ADHD and knowledge sharing with raising awareness in the community.

WEDNESDAY 14 JUNE   :   BEXLEY COUNCIL FOSTERING

Foster carers are a valuable part of the community, who enrich the life of children in the borough who cannot be looked after by their own parents or family.

THURSDAY 15 JUNE      :     BEXLEY VOICE

They are a group of voluntary parents/carers of children with disabilities, special needs or additional needs who live in Bexley, Kent. The ages of the children they represent are between 0 – 25 years. They proudly became a registered charity in 2011.

FRIDAY 16 JUNE             :     ALZHEIMERS SOCIETY

Alzheimers Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.   They provide information and support to people with any form of dementia and their carers through their publications

SATURDAY 17 JUNE       :      BEXLEY YOUNG CARERS

They support : Young Carers aged 8 – 18 caring for a family member due to that person having a disability, long term health condition, mental health issue or substance misuse issue.

They do:   Assessment, 1:1 support, respite outings and school drop - ins
